Sheer Panic
/There’s nothing worse than feeling helpless in a situation. Daily, Aiden goes in and closes his bedroom door when we get home. That’s just his new thing–closing doors. Today was a little different though. Normally, he closes the door and I open it. Today, however, he closed it and although the door knob turned, I could not open it. I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR OPEN!! I tried everything. I tried a knife, a card, a spatula, EVERYTHING! Nothing could get between the banister and the door enough to open it. Even Aiden was trying to turn the knob on the other side. It just would not open. Something was loose that wouldn’t actually release the door so it would open. I tried to push it and everything. Stuck.
I texted his dad and my neighbor because I heard her upstairs hoping someone could help me. Honestly, at least he wasn’t crying on the other side.
Little did he know, Mommy was LOSING HER SH%#!
Finally, I went outside and wedged open his screen off his window, while praying that the window was unlocked. IT WAS! I called him to the window and pulled him out.
This was the icing on the cake for an overall emotionally exhausting day.
The door is still locked. I don’t even care.
I’m proud to say that my panic didn’t reach its full potential. If it did, I would’ve been calling the fire department–believe me. In moments like these mommies, try your best to stay grounded. Kids are going to do the most ridiculous things that send us over the edge. We just gotta get through it.
