I’m not lazy, it’s convenient
/For years I’ve found myself battling with the idea of me actually being lazy rather than doing the tasks that are so time-consuming. You know what I’m talking about—laundry, grocery shopping and sometimes cleaning amongst other things. I mean, this isn’t even new to me and almost has nothing to do with motherhood (well maybe a little). Prior to having Aiden, I was paying for wash and fold service at my local laundromat. I was in grad school finishing up my masters degree and laundry was just one of those tasks that I do not want to spend an excessive amount of time doing so I outsourced. And honestly I don’t see anything wrong with that and what I’m realizing is a lot of other millennial’s feel the exact same way. I mean currently I’m not paying for my laundry to be washed and folded so neatly by the wonderful women of Sudzy laundromat, but what I do is definitely get my groceries shopped for me. I mean currently I’m not paying for my laundry to be washed and folded so neatly by the wonderful women of Sudzy laundromat, but what I do is definitely get my groceries shopped for me. It only cost five dollars and five dollars of which I normally get a promotion discount on. So for the amount of time that I would spend in the supermarket told him along my toddler I am saving in time which is valuable to me I’m using it elsewhere. I am able to go pick up my groceries within a matter of three minutes, have them loaded into my car and gracefully come home to simply unload them, bring them in the house and put them up. Do you know how much time that I actually saved? So for the amount of time that I would spend in the supermarket toting my toddler, I am saving valuable time and using it elsewhere. Let’s face it times have changed and paying for convenience has become a thing that I don’t see anything wrong with it. Now I’ve sacrificed and remove the expense of the wash and fold from my budget, but that’s mainly because the laundry room is right next to my apartment, so it makes it a little easier. To maintain I may wash a load a few times a week, which also saves time and becomes routine. But here’s what I’m doing that I just learned: Amazon Prime Now has grocery delivery within two hours of placing your order from Whole Foods. Most might think this is expensive but prime members definitely get a discount on Whole Foods items and Whole Foods has decreased their prices for the most part for typical grocery items. It’s saved my life yesterday. I realize that even was one yogurt away from not having any leftAnd that would’ve been a complete disaster. So Amazon Prime Now saved a mom and got my life.
Do you pay for anything out of convenience? Why or why not? What time saving strategies do you use?
