Day 1 of the Journey

Okay, so today was the first time that I seriously worked out since my car accident in 2015 and guess what–I died. I expected it to be hard and the workout did not disappoint. After 8 months of friendly harassment from my friend and trainer, Chris, I finally gave in and said it’s time. It’s a small group of 4 and we’re doing HIIT strength training, cardio and toning which is just what I need.

I’ve never really been a group workout type of person, but this setting and this group size is perfect for me. Today made me feel so good to know that I can make it work and bring Aiden in tow, if needed. I packed up his pack-and-play, grabbed some blocks for him, snacks and his cup and we went to our first session. Not that I had doubts, but he behaved very well too. It was also during nap time–so although he refused to actually go to sleep, he was a little tired and not as active.

Needless to say, I’m already feeling my muscles tightening up from the associated soreness. Give me a week and I’ll be good (because muscle memory is amazing). The discipline that it took to finally make it to the session will be needed 20 times over to begin and maintain meal prepping. I’m on this journey to lose 20-40 pounds at point. Hold me accountable!

And just as an aside, I had to be okay with the weight that I put on after pregnancy. It was something I had finally come to accept but also realized that physically I didn’t feel well. I kept hearing myself say, “My bones hurt”. Literally, my knees are carrying too much weight. Now that Aiden is approaching 2, it’s time for the weight to go!
